Gene Magallanes Rivas is a graduate of Loyola Marymount University and a retired aerospace engineer. Born and raised in Los Angeles, he and his wife Ann have lived most of their lives in the forested hills east of Seattle, Washington. Besides writing and salsa dancing, he enjoys painting, road trips, movie going, and playing and singing bluegrass songs with his Weber mandocello. Gene was a motivational speaker for young adults during his years as an engineer. Now he gives Power Point presentations on the life and art of his grandfather, Candelario Rivas. Dancing salsa four nights a week, Gene will pass on a dance to spend time with his two daughters and three grandchildren.
